not-just-basic information ::. 12/30/24 flurtz/eli | (read here for 'in a nutshell') reveille (rev·eil·le (re ve -le) n.: a signal for wakening) is a band formed in the basement of a boston suburb named chelmsford in 1998 massachusetts, U.S. as a nu metal (or some say, rap metal). the 5 original members were still in high school when they met, formed the band, and recorded their first demo to send out to record companies to get signed..all in a few months. many labels were interested in them after 3 performances in CBGB's club in new york city, one of the most famous and legendary venues for rock to metal bands... they soon signed a 3 album deal with elektra records (now entertainment) and almost immediately after signing, they were headed to longview studios in their home..state massachusetts to record their first full album 'laced' with one track featuring b-real from cypress hill, one of the most famous rap groups. the album released in june 1999 and reveille toured for well over a year, they played with huge acts such as godsmack, static x, pm5k, ect. played in woodstock 99, and closed out the tour with ozzfest 2000.
after their ozzfest 2000 performance, they begun writing for their next album before they set off to a studio in LA to record their long-awaited and most recent album, bleed the sky, in many fan's opinions..their best release. 'the 13 original tracks slam with an intensity that makes "bleed the sKY" an obvious choice among those who favor the sound of rapcore's heavier side.' justin wilson (drummer) : 'a lot of them crank out 30 songs and eliminate 20. We'll write maybe 15, and focus on everyone, trying to make it the best it can be.' explaining that their writing process is much different than a lot of bands. over 4 months, the band made bleed the sky with the help of producer howard benson (who has produced for many famous acts such as sepultura, P.O.D, cold, hoobastank, ect.) who decided to work with them after seeing them play at ozzfest. and engineer/mixer mike plotnikoff who has worked with bands such as fear factory. singer/vocalist drew simollardes says, 'we felt very confident going into the studio this time. We'd worked hard writing this album, we knew what we wanted, and we knew we'd have good people working with us. It was a tedious process but in the end we walked away very happy with the results,'
-- 'I don't rap about the kind of things typical rappers go on about. Our lyrics have more of a rock edge. There's a rock audience out there that respects us more because our language captures the feelings and interaction that are more associated with rock,' 'we pride ourselves on making music that sounds dark and cynical, but if you really read into what the music is about, Reveille has a very positive underlying message. Now we just gotta get out there and drill it into people.' -says drew much of their success fan be attributed to the aggression of their live shows, and the 'in your face' sound of bleed the sky. rap-rock/nu metal/rap metal whatever you wanna call it is much more seen nowadays, so reveille's lyrics and kept-intensity serve as something setting them apart from all the others. bleed the sky covers a wide variety of music in genres but still manages to stay within the taste of nu metal/the genre.
